The Benefits of Boarding
Boarding at New Hall offers far more than a place to stay. Our busy and vibrant boarding community provides a supportive environment where students grow in independence, achieve academic excellence, and enjoy a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom. From structured study time and boarding co-curricular activities to cultural trips and weekend enrichment, boarders thrive in a lively, engaging environment that prepares them for life beyond school.
Friendships, Community, and a Global Outlook

Boarding life creates a strong sense of belonging. Students form lasting friendships and enjoy life in an inclusive, international community. Living and learning together fosters empathy, global awareness, and confidence, helping students grow into well-rounded individuals.
Flexible Boarding to Suit Every Family
New Hall offers both full boarding and flexible boarding options to meet the needs of modern families. Full boarding is popular with international students and those from outside the local area. Ideally located near major London airports and Beaulieu Park station, the school has excellent transport links to London, East Anglia, and beyond.
Flexible boarding enables students to stay from one to six nights a week, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the many benefits of boarding while supporting early morning fixtures, rehearsals, clubs, or family schedules. A two-day boarding pass also gives Year 7 and Year 12 day students the chance to try boarding and experience its benefits first-hand.
Building Independence and Confidence
Living on campus helps students develop independence, resilience, and organisational skills, supported by experienced staff who know them well. Older students learn to manage their time, balance academic and co-curricular commitments, and take responsibility for their routines. This combination of freedom and guidance fosters confidence and maturity, equipping students with skills they will carry to university and beyond.
Exceptional Academic Outcomes
The academic advantages of boarding at New Hall are clear. In 2025, almost a third of boarding students achieved the highest GCSE grade 9, half of all grades were 8 or 9, and three-quarters fell at grades 7–9. These results reflect structured routines, focused study time, and expert weekend and evening support, highlighting the school’s commitment to academic excellence.

Outstanding Facilities and Enrichment
Boarders have access to outstanding facilities beyond the school day, including the Fitness Suite, Library, Music rooms, and extensive outdoor spaces. Cultural enrichment is a key part of boarding life, with weekend trips to London, Cambridge, Oxford, museums, theatre, and local attractions. These experiences broaden horizons and complement academic learning.
Pastoral Care and Wellbeing
Pastoral care is central to boarding at New Hall. Each house is supported by a dedicated team, including the Head of Boarding, assistants, matrons, and Student Support Managers. The on-site Health and Wellbeing Centre provides access to a GP, school nurses, and counsellors, ensuring students feel safe, supported, and cared for at all times.
