Learn-to-Ride Centre
The History of Equestrian at New Hall
The School has a rich equestrian heritage, with national-level success dating back to the 1970s and 1980s and a Royal Visit from HRH Princess Anne in 1979. Alumni such as Dr Veronica Lac, founder of The HERD Institute, demonstrate how a lifelong passion for horses can underpin an inspiring professional career.
Equestrian at New Hall Today
Today, New Hall offers a first-class equestrian provision within a modern Learn-to-Ride Centre, featuring a 30 x 50 metre arena and two state-of-the-art simulators.
Riding Lessons
Students can take part in private, on-site riding lessons as part of the co-curricular programme. Lessons take place at lunchtime and after school, and begin with an assessment on the School’s Racewood Equestrian simulators.
LESSON COST:
£40 per 45-minute private lesson
£30 per 30-minute lead rein lesson
(All riders must have a 30-minute assessment lesson on a Racewood Equestrian Simulator beforehand.)
Simulator Lessons
New Hall’s Learn-to-Ride Centre features two state-of-the-art Racewood Equestrian simulators; ‘Genesis’, focused on dressage, with advanced capabilities, as well as engaging programmes for beginner riders, and ‘Eos’, an eventing simulator which supports dressage, show jumping, and cross-country disciplines.
Using advanced biometric feedback to refine technique and enhance performance, our simulators are suitable for both beginner riders and advanced riders looking to build confidence or perfect their technique.
LESSON COST:
£30 per 30-minute private lesson
Stable Management
Alongside riding, students can develop essential stable management skills through a co-curricular club, including grooming, horse care and equine first aid.
Equestrian Team
New Hall has a vibrant and successful Equestrian Team competing across multiple disciplines at National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) competitions, including a strong grass-roots programme. The School also offers the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport, with riding available.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, New Hall is developing New Hall Park Farm, a 70-acre site in nearby Little Baddow. Once refurbished, it will expand opportunities for student riders through livery services, advanced riding camps and specialist training programmes.
