A Level French

Being able to communicate in another language is an invaluable skill in life.  This explains why most students choose to study a Modern Language at GCSE and even though French remains the first choice across the United Kingdom, fewer opt for an A Level in French. This makes linguists distinctive when it comes to university selection and highly sought-after candidates when it comes to competition in the workplace and on the job market.

Choosing to study A Level French will give you a profound understanding of the language of course, but it will also give you extensive knowledge of history, politics, and literature.

What students say about studying French at New Hall

Extension Opportunities

Given the exceptional calibre of our students, you will be invited to join our Pre-University and Oxbridge group, once a week. This will give you an opportunity to discover more specific historical topics and deepen your knowledge of French classical authors and artists. You will also be asked to help organise and run our successful and regular French Soirées at school, which we host not only for pupils of all ages but also for their parents.

Educational Visits

Once a year, you will be invited to attend a one-week full-immersion study trip in France. You will be hosted by a French family and attend French lessons in a language school each morning. Every afternoon, you will go on excursions with your teachers and visit the local places of interest. Our most recent destination was Nice and during the week we also visited Monaco, Antibes, Cannes and many other wonderful coastal villages.
