Harriet Rogers, 11, and Emerald Finbow, 10, who both attend New Hall School, Chelmsford, have been cast in two of the top musicals featuring large children’s casts, performing in London’s West End and beyond!
Harriet, whose theatrical and dance training began in New Hall School’s Dance Department, is currently wowing audiences in a major West End musical, which is now in its 12th year. Harriet is performing in the musical until March 2024. She has been overwhelmed by the support of her teachers and peers as she performs in her dream musical.
Harriet has won awards and titles at national dance competitions, including the Judges Choice Awards for Musical Theatre, Tap and Lyrical. She represented England with New Hall School’s Dance Department at the Dance World Cup 2022 and was selected again in 2023.
Sarah Molina, Head of Dance, said that Harriet’s success is a testament to the dedication and talent cultivated at New Hall:
“When Harriet first started her dance training with us aged 2, she was very quiet but showed great promise. She had great musicality and attention to detail in all dance styles. With her hard work and determination, she has made her West End debut! The whole Dance Department is incredibly proud of her.”
It was recently announced that Emerald, current Head Girl in New Hall Preparatory Division, will be joining the cast of School of Rock for their South Korea tour next year, performing in the Seoul Arts Center, home to the Korean National Ballet.
Rehearsals have already begun, and Emerald couldn’t be more excited to show off her talents in the violin, electric guitar, bass guitar and singing – all of which she learns at New Hall. Emerald and her family want to thank the members of the Music Department who have been involved in her musical journey.
Samantha Twomey, Head of the Preparatory Division, said:
“I could not have been more delighted to hear Emerald’s news, we are all immeasurably proud of her. She is a charming, hard-working and kind pupil – qualities which I am certain will help her to give of her very best on the Asia Tour.”
Harriet and Emerald are not the first New Hall students whose talents have taken them to the stage, and they certainly won’t be the last!
