Prize Givings 2022

Date Posted: Monday 11 July 2022

Our annual Prize Giving events, suspended for the past two years, were held once again with numerous students receiving cups, prizes and congratulations from assembled parents, staff and peers in the last week of term.

Over four consecutive days the Prize Givings applauded students’ achievements from the Preparatory and Senior Divisions. Prizes are awarded for Outstanding Academic Achievement, Attitude to Learning, and Community, plus specific academic and sport prizes. Student successes in Music, Dance and Drama are also celebrated as well as Bronze, Silver and Gold Personal Development Awards, and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Musical and Dance performances preceded the prize-giving ceremonies.

We were fortunate to be joined by several VIP guests including The Mayor and Mayoress Chelmsford, Mr and Mrs John Galley, CISC General Secretary Dr Maureen Glackin, and Reverand Dan Pierce.

Guest of Honour for the Years 7-9 Prize Giving was New Hall Governor Mrs Olga Slater. Former Head Boy, Tomiwa Agbongbon, was Guest of Honour at the Years 10-13 Prize Giving and spoke rousingly of his time at New Hall and opportunity. Following this, the Head Girl and Boy each gave a short speech reflecting on their time in office and then exchanged Chains of Office with their incoming counterparts, together with the former and new Deputy Head Girls & Boys.

After each Prize Giving guests, staff and students enjoyed refreshments on the Cedar Lawn, enjoying the balmy summer 2022 weather.
