New Hall Transforms into an Enchanted Narnia for Educational Day

Date Posted: Monday 10 February 2025

On Saturday 8 February, New Hall transformed into an enchanted winter wonderland, as over 100 Year 6 pupils journeyed into the magical world of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe for an Educational Day. Open to those who hold offers to join New Hall in September 2025, the rich and immersive day was designed to bring the classic novel to life through fun, themed activities, while offering a taste of the vibrant and welcoming community at the School.

Pupils began their adventure in the North Gallery Dining Hall, which had been transformed with a touch of winter magic, complete with ‘snow,’ banqueting tables, a forest of fir trees, the iconic lamppost, and the School’s very own enchanted wardrobe awaiting their discovery.

As pupils stepped through the magical wardrobe into Narnia, they were welcomed by the ‘White Witch,’ who led them to different activities, each exploring various themes from the novel. Pupils enjoyed a hands-on cookery session, where they created their own fresh fruit tarts, brought the Narnia narrative to life by performing short dramatic scenes in the School’s historic Chapel, and wandered through the beautiful School woodlands, drawing inspiration for a piece of creative writing.

“We were impressed with the creativity and teamwork shown by the pupils, who all threw themselves into the world of Narnia, making for a fun-filled and engaging day. We look forward to welcoming many of them to Year 7 this September,” said Mr Nathan Kerr, Head of English.
