New Hall Ski Team’s Success in British Schoolgirls’ Races

Date Posted: Sunday 02 February 2025

The New Hall Ski Team had an exhilarating week competing in the British Schoolgirls’ Races in Flaine from Sunday 26 to Tuesday 28 January, showcasing impressive skill, teamwork, and determination.

Saturday kicked off an intensive training day, led by David from UNIQ, ahead of Sunday’s Parallel races for the A Team. The camaraderie between team members was heartwarming, with newer skiers bonding easily with more experienced teammates – the group’s connection was evident and uplifting.

Monday saw success in the slalom with some remarkable performances. Amelia (Year 11) made a strong presence on the team, as she flew in on Sunday from the Czech Republic after competing for GB. Amelia secured 2nd place in the U16 category, while Eleanor (Year 13) earned 3rd place in the U21 category, missing 2nd by mere fractions of a second.

Tuesday brought the challenges of the Giant Slalom. The girls bravely tackled the course, with once again Amelia claiming 2nd place, and Eleanor securing 3rd place. Amelia’s efforts earned her 2nd overall in the U16 category, while Eleanor claimed 3rd overall in what was a brilliant conclusion to an unforgettable event.

Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, the B Team parallel race was cancelled, allowing the group to enjoy free skiing in the fresh powder and indulge in delicious French crêpes.

We were so proud of the skiers hard work, and a special mention went to Year 13 students Eleanor and Freya who ended their careers with the New Hall Ski Team on a high note.
