New Hall School Students Get Creative for Chelmsford ‘Buzz in the City’ Art Trail

Students have been proudly buzzing with excitement as they completed their contribution to Chelmsford’s ‘Buzz in the City’ Art Trail. Spearheaded by New Hall’s Art Technician, Miss Davies, and with the support from the Art Department, the project has brought together the creative energy of both Preparatory and Senior Divisions students and staff.
The Mini Bee initiative, part of the city’s Learning and Community Programme supported by Farleigh Hospice, provides local schools and groups the opportunity to decorate fibreglass bee sculptures that will form an engaging public art trail through Chelmsford city centre this summer.
Over the past few weeks, students across year groups at New Hall School collaborated on a striking and imaginative bee design, transforming the 85cm-high sculpture into a colourful celebration of community spirit and artistic talent. Staff from across departments lent their support, making it a truly whole-school effort.
“This project has been a wonderful way to bring together students of all ages,” said Miss Davies. “The enthusiasm, teamwork and creativity shown by our students has been outstanding. We are incredibly proud to be part of something that will bring joy to the wider Chelmsford community.”
New Hall’s Mini Bee will be displayed in teh Chelmsford Library from July to September as part of the ‘Buzz in the City’ trail, delivered in partnership with Chelmsford For You, the city’s Business Improvement District, with support from Chelmsford City Council and Farleigh Hospice. The trail supports Farleigh Hospice and aims to highlight local talent while promoting engagement with public art. A farewell event is scheduled for September, after which our bee will return to New Hall in October as a lasting symbol of student collaboration and creativity.
