New Hall School Librarian Achieves Historic “Triple Crown” at London Marathon

Date Posted: Tuesday 28 April 2026

New Hall School is proud to celebrate the extraordinary achievement of its Librarian, Mrs Hammett, who secured the prestigious “Triple Crown” of endurance running at London Marathon last weekend, a remarkable feat comprising 100 road marathons, 100 trail marathon and 100 ultra-marathons.

This month marked a significant milestone in Mrs Hammett’s running journey, as she completed her 98th and 99th road marathons in Brighton and Norfolk, before reaching her landmark 100th in London. With this achievement, she became just the 20th person, and only the fifth woman, to officially complete 100 road, trail, and ultra-marathons.

Mrs Hammett said: “London Marathon was something truly special; the atmosphere was electric from the start, and the crowds carried me through every mile. I am delighted to have received the Triple Crown, and I hope my journey shows students that persistence can take you further than you ever imagine.”

In addition to her personal achievement, Mrs Hammett completed the London Marathon in support of Alzheimer’s Society, a cause close to her heart following a dementia diagnosis in a family member. Dementia affects nearly one million people in the UK, impacting not only those diagnosed but also their families, friends, and carers.

Despite taking a fall at mile seven, Mrs Hammett showed remarkable determination and resilience to successfully complete the race.

Mr Fardell, Deputy Principal, said: “We are immensely proud of Mrs Hammett’s outstanding achievement. Her dedication, resilience, and commitment to supporting charitable causes are inspiring to our entire School community.”

In total, Mrs Hammett has now completed 465 marathons. Looking ahead, she has set her sights on reaching the milestone of 500 marathons.
