New Hall has once again been recognised as one of the country’s Top 100 Independent Senior Schools for Cricket by The Cricketer magazine, reaffirming its status as one of the leading schools in the UK for the sport.
Schools are selected for this prestigious list based on a number of criteria, including the quality of facilities, the strength of the coaching programme, competitive performance, and a commitment to embedding cricket within the curriculum.
Mr Ballard, Head of Cricket, commented: “I’m incredibly proud of the dedication shown by our players. Their enthusiasm, resilience and love for the game are at the heart of this achievement. Our aim is not only to develop talented cricketers, but to instil values that will stay with them for life; teamwork, sportsmanship and ambition.”
Last season, New Hall teams played an impressive 180 fixtures, with a standout match against the world-renowned Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
The School continues to nurture exceptional talent. Current student Archie T, a seam-bowling all-rounder, is already making his mark, representing Essex CCC and progressing through the performance pathway.
New Hall’s cricketing legacy includes a number of distinguished alumni who have gone on to achieve success at county and national level, including Ben A, who plays for Worcestershire CCC and Mackenzie J, who signed a rookie deal with Essex CCC and represented Scotland in the U19 World Cup. The School is also supported by former England international cricketer Ravi Bopara, who serves as an inspirational figure for young players.
Students benefit from state-of-the-art, first-class facilities, including the acclaimed Six Acres 1st XI pitch, both indoor and outdoor nets, bowling machines, and a high-quality fitness suite that supports training throughout the year. Last academic year, two girls’ squads embarked on a cricket tour to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while the 1st XI travelled to Sri Lanka.
