The New Hall cricketing profile has grown rapidly in recent years and the School is now considered one of the leading providers of school cricket in England for both girls and boys. The School has had success in local, regional and national competitions, winning 16 County Cups at U12-U15 level, the regional trophy of the National Cup and reaching the National Cup quarter-finals at U17 level.
During Lent half term, the 1st XI New Hall Cricket Team travelled to Cape Town to play several fixtures against some of the most prestigious and highly accomplished schools in South Africa, such as St Augustine’s and Rondebosch High School. The experience provided the New Hall Cricket Team with the fantastic opportunity to take part in a horizon-expanding adventure. New Hall’s students competed with players from different personal and educational backgrounds from their own, whilst also gaining experience of another country’s culture and traditions.
Mr Davidge, Head of Cricket & Teacher of PE at New Hall, expressed his pride in the team, “It is my great pleasure to lead a very talented group of players to one of the toughest environments in world cricket”, he continued “the boys have worked incredibly hard over the past four months to ensure that they are ready for the challenges and demands of an international tour”.
The trip was a great success, with New Hall Cricket Team winning four out of their five fixtures. During their trip, the students also had the opportunity to visit the famous Table Mountain, Green Street Market and saw lions and other animals in their natural environment. New Hall appreciates and is acutely aware of the importance of making memories and opening the minds on their students.
Mrs Jeffrey, Principal of New Hall School, spoke about the trip, “At New Hall, we aim to provide the best start in life for our students through a rounded education that includes an ambitious and varied programme of educational visits. Recent international visits include a Politics trip to Washington DC and New York, the Choir tour to Rome and a Geography trip to China”.
Alongside a successful academic programme, New Hall School provides excellent facilities and training for budding sports stars and fantastic music and performing arts provision. The Catholic boarding and day school for students aged 1-18 has a distinctive ‘diamond model structure’ and a strong ethos of pastoral care, which supports students in their endeavours, allowing them to achieve success in a wide variety of fields.
