Launch of NHVS Pacha Club

Date Posted: Tuesday 07 May 2024

In February, we welcomed back Old Fish Ella Lambert (New Hall 2012-2018) for an inspirational talk on starting her own charity, The Pachamama Project, fighting ‘period poverty’, and a workshop making her specially designed reusable sanitary towels, which get distributed to refugees all around the world. The success of the workshop was evident; students and staff were eager to find more ways to help more frequently, prompting the idea of a new New Hall Voluntary Service (NHVS) action group.

Today was a historic moment for New Hall School – in partnership with The Pachamama Project, we have launched the New Hall Pacha Club, a volunteering workshop as part of our  Voluntary Service, making reusable pads to send to many women across the world who are living in conditions that make hygienic sanitary wear impossible. On a weekly rotation, all girls and boys in Year 8, and many others, will be learning to sew and create ‘Pacha Pads’, forming part of the 2,000 volunteers that help fight period poverty. In its 46th year, the NHVS now boasts eight weekly action groups, supporting and serving the local community and beyond.
