Hosting Community Groups this Summer
Date Posted: Friday 05 August 2022
We are so pleased to share New Hall School facilities with our local community as part of our public benefit. Over the past few weeks, we have welcomed a group from the Little Edi Foundation (LEF) and the Melbourne Community Group.
LEF is an Essex-based non-profit organisation helping children in the UK involving adult and teenage volunteers assisting in their local community. Our young visitors enjoyed splashing about in our pool, making pizzas and fruit kebabs in the refectory, plus a visit to our much-loved farm.
Our guests from the Melbourne area of Chelmsford are supported year-round by the Cannonesses of the Holy Sepulchre who set up and ran New Hall School for more than 350 years. In term time, New Hall Sixth Formers assist with their Homework Club.
During their visit, the children divided into three groups to take part in an art and craft activity, a farm visit, or a gym session. Afterwards, they took turns cooling off in the pool or playing outdoor games such as table tennis and football, followed by lunch under the Walkfares Canopy. The day ended with a trip to the movies – watching Madagascar in the Jubilee Hall, complete with popcorn and ice pops.
It was lovely to see everyone having such a great time at New Hall. We are already looking forward to their return in 2023.
