Harvest Festival Fundraises for local Chelmsford Foodbank

Date Posted: Tuesday 01 October 2024

We started the week with our Harvest Celebration Service, a beautiful occasion where both the Pre-Prep and Preparatory Divisions came together. The Walkfares Canopy was filled with the children’s joyous voices, creating an atmosphere of gratitude and thanksgiving. It was wonderful to witness the generosity and kindness on display, as so many New Hall families braved the rain to attend and contribute to the food donations, as well as funds raised in the retiring collection.

This morning, our Voluntary Service van was loaded full of bags and boxes of donations. Four of our bright and cheerful Prep pupils helped to deliver the donations to the Chelmsford Foodbank on Tuesday morning. Last year, Chelmsford Foodbank provided nearly 7,500 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis, with a growing need for provisions made worse by the cost-of-living crisis.

Each bag was weighed and checked in, with the final total amounting to an impressive 332 kilograms of food, as well as a monetary donation of £222.42 from the Harvest Festival retiring collection. The pupils were very excited to be involved in the process, and to learn more about the important work that the Foodbank does for their local community.

New Hall School was recently selected as a Finalist in the ISA Awards for Outstanding Engagement in the Community. As we embody our dedication to community work, we are very grateful for the generous and compassionate families and staff members that make up our School community.
