Over half term, 29 eager Business and Economics students embarked on an exciting educational journey to Berlin, diving deep into the world of European industry and entrepreneurship. The trip was packed with highlights that brought classroom concepts to life in remarkable ways.
One of the most memorable stops was Volkswagen’s Autostadt, a futuristic hub where students were awed by the 48-metre glass towers used to store brand-new cars. There is an impressive rolling conveyor system that transfers each vehicle from the production line to its designated spot in just under two minutes, lifted by a specialised car elevator. The visit also included an exhibition of automotive design icons, showcasing how past styles have influenced the future of car design.
The group then explored Berlin’s tech scene at Silicon Allee, an innovation hub for start-ups and entrepreneurs. Here, students learned how Berlin supports emerging businesses and enjoyed an inspiring session with an expert from Fraunhofer’s Heinrich Hertz Institute. The students were captivated by the latest developments in deep tech and AI start-ups, gaining insight into the cutting-edge technology shaping our future.
To round off their experience, the students enjoyed a segway tour through Berlin’s iconic sites, a tour of the historic Reichstag building, and a scenic river cruise, giving them a taste of the city’s rich culture and history. The trip was a fantastic mix of education, inspiration, and adventure—an experience our students won’t soon forget!
