Ahead of the Christmas holidays, New Hall School was transformed into a dazzling ballroom as students and staff joined forces for the annual New Hall Come Dancing charity inter-house competition. With glitter balls spinning and the air alive with excitement, the event showcased incredible talent, enthusiasm, and a true sense of community. This year’s event raised over £1,600 for Farleigh Hospice, a local charity providing care to people affected by life limiting illnesses.
This, now beloved, annual School tradition saw participants from the School’s six houses pairing up to deliver show-stopping routines. “This event allows all students and staff to get involved and learn new skills. The students had a few lessons in Ballroom and Latin dance in the build up to this event and showcased routines in the jive, rumba, salsa, cha-cha-cha and samba. From sugar pushes to energetic drops, every performance demonstrated a remarkable blend of creativity and commitment,” commented Sarah Molina, Head of Dance at New Hall School. The routines were judged by a panel of students, staff and professional dancers, who faced the near-impossible task of choosing winners.
The audience, filled with supportive family, staff and friends of the School, cheered on with enthusiasm, creating an unforgettable evening for all. After an evening of fierce but friendly competition, it was Acutis House who danced their way to victory, with a charming ‘The Blues Brothers’ performance and an energetic dance to ‘Rolling on the River’ earning the coveted New Hall Come Dancing trophy. Their dynamic routines, executed with precision and passion, won the hearts of the judges and the audience alike. As the winning house was announced, confetti cannons erupted in celebration showering New Hall’s Jubilee Hall in a kaleidoscope of colour.
Vincent Holden, Vice Principal of New Hall School, praised the event, saying, “New Hall Come Dancing is a true celebration of what makes our School special. It’s not just about dancing; it’s about teamwork, creativity, and the community spirit in fundraising. Seeing students and staff collaborate like this is truly inspiring.”
As the glitter settled and the confetti was swept away, one thing was clear; New Hall Come Dancing had once again united the School in a spectacular celebration of talent, camaraderie, and joy, all for a good cause. The countdown to next year’s competition has already begun!
