A Level PE and BTEC Sport Students Visit the ARU Performance Centre
Date Posted: Wednesday 19 February 2025
On Wednesday 5 February, our A Level PE and BTEC Sport students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Anglia Ruskin University Performance Centre in Writtle. The trip provided valuable hands-on experience with key biomechanical and physiological concepts that underpin sports science assessments.
Students began the day using force plates and the NordBord, acting as both participants and assessors. Each student received personalised data on their performance, helping them gain insight into their own physical capabilities.
Later, Year 13 students Alex and Oscar stepped up to take part in the altitude session, using an altitude generator and completing a VO2 Max test. Both students pushed themselves to their limits and were rewarded with valuable performance data to support their own sporting development.
It was an enriching and insightful experience. The students will now be able to apply their newfound knowledge from the laboratory to their studies in A Level PE and BTEC Sport, deepening their understanding of sports science in action.
