Our Health & Wellbeing Centre

At New Hall, the health and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. Our purpose-built Health and Wellbeing Centre, conveniently located on the school site, ensures that we are well-equipped to look after the physical, mental and emotional welfare of our large School community.  

From day-to-day first aid, to emotional support through a dedicated School Counsellor, our health and wellbeing team are on hand to help with all our students’ needs.  

Our Team

Our experienced team is made up of two Registered School Nurses, a Healthcare Assistant, and a School Counsellor. Working in partnership with Little Waltham and Great Notley Surgery, the School Medical Officer runs two GP clinics a week onsite, specifically for our boarding students and resident staff.  

Our Facilities

Opened in 2022, the purpose-built centre has state-of-the-art consultation, treatment and waiting rooms, the School Counsellor’s room, overnight student rooms and on-call staff accommodation, as well as office and kitchen facilities.  

The Health and Wellbeing Centre provides comprehensive care during school hours from 8.00am-6.00pm, Monday to Friday, with on-call support available from a Nurse outside of these hours.  

Providing Emotional Support

We recognise that mental health is as important to a child’s wellbeing as their physical health, especially as they navigate today’s fast-paced and ever-changing world. The centre provides a safe space for students to get support and advice, with a trained School Counsellor, to help manage any concerns they may have.   

Our Nurturing Community

As part of the school’s holistic approach to pastoral care, the Health & Wellbeing team support the School’s PSHEE programme by providing guidance on healthy relationships, a balanced diet, regular exercise and increased awareness of mental health.  

The team also liaise with external agencies to organise health programmes, such as vaccinations and hearing tests onsite.
