New Hall Quidditch Cup

Date Posted: Friday 27 September 2024

On Thursday this week, we welcomed pupils and teachers from Ursuline Preparatory School, Brentwood, Loyola Preparatory School and Ursuline Preparatory School Ilford, to join our very first New Hall Quidditch Cup event. It was so lovely to welcome Year 5 pupils and to see them very excited and engaged in the various activities we had planned.

The day began with a very exciting Sorting Ceremony. Pupils were sorted into either Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff or Slytherin House. After the Sorting Hat had determined the pupils’ houses, they embarked upon a series of magical classes, inspired by the wizarding world. Their interactive workshops were led by our wonderful staff, who are just as passionate about learning as Professor McGonagall or Dumbledore!

In our Library, under the watchful eye of quirky Luna Lovegood, pupils developed their creative writing skills and engaged with stories inspired by the Harry Potter books. Pupils enjoyed a short screening in our very own Eaton Theatre, and visited our Farm where they learned about and held our visiting owls. In their Herbology lesson, pupils planted ‘magical’ seeds!  Of course, no Quidditch Cup day would be complete without Quidditch! We may not have had flying brooms, but pupils did travel in style to play Quidditch on their very own Hogwarts Express land train! At lunch, pupils enjoyed a delicious banquet style feast and some Hogwarts-inspired treats, whilst they shared stories about the day’s adventures with their friends. After they had finished eating, pupils enjoyed engaging in activities including, a Chemistry Potions Masterclass, a Drama Charms Workshop and an Art Masterclass. The day ended with a trophy presentation to the Quidditch Cup Winners, Ravenclaw!

During the trophy presentation, we were so pleased to be able to recognise a number of pupils who had excelled during the course of the day at Quidditch. From Ursuline Preparatory School, Esme B won ‘Best Beater,’ Emily B won ‘Best Chaser,’ and Shervin A won, ‘Best Keeper.’ From Loyola Preparatory School, Vikram S won ‘Best Beater,’ Rishi R won ‘Best Chaser,’ and Jayden W won, ‘Best Keeper.’ From Ursuline Preparatory School Ilford, Avyan S won ‘Best Beater,’ Chizara O won ‘Best Chaser,’ and Rishi B won, ‘Best Keeper.’

We hope that our visiting pupils enjoyed their day with us and we look forward to future Quidditch Cup events!
