There is plenty of exciting Cricket news to impart as we near the end of the Trinity Term.
Ravi Bopara joins New Hall as Cricket Professional
England and Sussex cricketer Ravi Bopara will be joining New Hall as a visiting Cricket Professional from September 2022. An all-rounder, Ravi started his career playing for Essex in 2001, joining Sussex as a T20 specialist in 2020. He has played 171 games for England including three back-to-back test centuries, an Ashes victory and a World Cup.
Born and schooled in Newham Ravi has won every trophy in the English cricket calendar. He is one of only two players worldwide to score 8,000+ runs and take 250+ wickets in T20 cricket. In his professional career to date he has made a total of over 32,000 runs and taken 775 wickets. Ravi is representing Sussex and London Spirit in the Hundred this summer.
Matilda Callaghan, Head of Cricket, said: “I am really excited that Ravi is joining our coaching team. He will play a huge part in helping to develop cricket at New Hall, and I am looking forward to our students making the most of their opportunities to learn from him.”
MCC vs New Hall
We welcomed the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club), the world’s most active cricket club, on Six Acres for our annual fixture against the 1st XI. It was a fantastic and exciting day of cricket, with Barney (Year 12) hitting a 4 to win on the penultimate ball of the game. A big well done to Ellis Year 13) who took 4 wickets, Ronnie (Year 13) who made 134 runs and Christian (Year 11) for receiving the Spirit of Cricket cap).
MCC: 231/9 off 49, New Hall 233/9 off 45.5.
