In the Preparatory Division, we know that children excel academically when they are inspired to learn. Our curriculum is delivered through a range of exciting and engaging topics and built upon a progressive ladder of skills. We pride ourselves on teaching lessons which aim to enable all pupils in our care to achieve their full academic potential and foster their passions.

At all ages, our curriculum is enriched by specialist subject teachers. The expert knowledge of our teachers and their passion for their subjects greatly enhance the children’s learning experience.

Specialist teachers, differentiated lessons and sets in English and Mathematics for our older pupils, ensure a tailored learning experience in which all pupils are appropriately challenged and make exceptional progress. In Years 5 and 6 we have increased the provision of specialist teaching. Year 6 pupils are now being taught a majority of their curriculum in a similar way to the Senior Divisions. In this way we prepare them very effectively for the next stage of their education. As a result of our excellent teaching, our pupils achieve highly in our high Foundation Stage and SATs results, which are consistently above government expectations for the respective age ranges.

In Key Stage 2, we have built an Entrance Examination Programme into the curriculum, which introduces pupils to the skills and preparation they need, such as verbal reasoning, to excel in the New Hall Senior Division entrance examination, the 11+ examination and independent school scholarship assessments.
