Key Information About New Hall
New Hall School is one of the UK’s leading independent schools, offering a unique diamond model of education:
- Ages 1-11: Co-educational in the Nursery & Preparatory Divisions
- Ages 11-16: Single-sex education in the Girls’ & Boys’ Divisions
- Ages 16-19: Co-educational Sixth Form
This structure allows students to benefit from both co-education and tailored single-sex teaching during key developmental years.
Founded in 1642, New Hall is the UK’s largest Catholic boarding and day school. While rooted in Catholic tradition, we welcome students and staff of all faiths who support our ethos of inclusivity, service, and academic excellence. Our commitment to innovation and outreach has led us to become the first independent school to sponsor a state primary academy, Messing Primary School, which has received Outstanding commendations in key areas.
With 1400 students and 300 staff, New Hall is a large, diverse, and dynamic community. Our students come from over 30 countries, and we offer a broad curriculum with a rich co-curricular programme spanning sport, music, drama, outdoor learning, and volunteering. Recent investments include:
- Expanded sports provision, including equestrian, football, and basketball
- New Hall Boreham House
