Edexcel A Level in Government and Politics

  • Unit 1: People and Politics UK
  • Unit 2: Governing the UK
  • Unit 3: Representative processes in the USA
  • Unit 4: Governing the USA

Co-Curriculum

Politics students are encouraged to participate in the Model United Nations conference. Students meet once a week to discuss global issues and to prepare for the 3-day conference. Students attend Question Time every two weeks run by the Politics and Theology departments. There is also an annual Year 12 visit to the Houses of Parliament.

Year 13 students have had the opportunity to travel to New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC as part of their American Politics course.

Students also regularly attend lectures and conferences with MPs in London.

Departmental Achievements

In 2015, 57% of students achieved A*-B grades in A Level Government & Politics, with nine students achieving A*/A Grades.

In 2014, nine students achieved a perfect 100% in AS examination papers.

In 2013, two students achieved A* grades and four students achieved A grades. One student scored 100% in American Politics. In AS Politics, six students achieved A*/A grades, including two students with 100%.
