Students in Year 7 learn basic cookery skills which are further developed in Years 8 and 9. Year 13 students participate in cookery lessons designed to prepare them for independent living at university.
After school cookery clubs are offered to all students two nights per week. There is a Christmas Cake Club in the Michaelmas Term and further cookery clubs during the Lent and Trinity Terms. Boarders also have their own cookery clubs that are run after school and at weekends. As part of the House Competition that takes place throughout the year, there are regular Inter-House cookery competitions. Each term there is a ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ themed competition where students are provided with a bag of mystery ingredients and have to get creative!
In May 2016, the Cookery and French departments will be running a joint residential trip to Normandy, where students will participate in various culinary activities.
